After reading the book by Philip Gourevitch (1999) "We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will be Killed With Our Families: Stories from Rwanda", and after watching the documentary on the genocide in Darfur at http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/darfur/, please complete this final assignment.

Please write a 4 page paper (typed and double spaced) that discusses what you have learned about the genocides in Rwanda and Darfur. In addition to your own thoughts, I would also like you to discuss: 1) the relationship between the victims and offenders in these genocides, 2) the United Nations’ and the United States' response to these genocides, 3) the steps that victims had to take to survive, 4) the role of the international media in discussing these genocides, and 5) the lessons you believe we should take from these two genocides.

You MUST use information from the Gourevitch book and from the documentary on Darfur to support your statements in the paper. I will use this paper to determine if you read the book and watched the assigned documentary on Darfur. If I cannot tell you read the book or watched this documentary based on the content of your paper, your grade on this assignment will be impacted in a negative way.
