Essay Instructions: <>

The essay I need to write is a research paper with these specific requirements:
-2500 words (approximately 10 pages) and a references page.
-12 pt. Arial, Courier New or Times New Roman font.
-Double spaced.
-Should contain an APA-style formatted title page. (I attached an example of what the cover page and headers should look like.)
-All pages should be numbered.
-Should contain 10 sources (minimum) with no more than three web sites.

My research paper is about the food industry's secrets that are kept from the public. This includes genetically altered foods and seeds, extreme animal cruelty on factory farms, employee neglect in factory farms, farmers' rights being ignored and neglected, diseases that are spread through force feeding animals including a new strain of E.coli, and our health and environment being damaged due to greenhouse gases and what they put in our food.

Here is my thesis so far:
The united states food industry is damaging our environment, our health, the farm animals, the livelihood of the American farmer, and worker's rights.

I have attached an outline that I have already done that shows what I would like to cover in the research paper. I also want to include how the food industry is damaging our economy as well, but I'm not sure how much information I can gather from that to make a solid paragraph or two. If you guys can find anything about how it damages the economy please include that as well.

Here are some sources I have found and I have attached a document where I have cited 5 of them in the APA format (please ignore the descriptions under each source; they are not required for the reference page of the actual research paper).

I?d consider these sources are reputable: Greenpeace, Bloomberg, Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, New York Times, Humane Society, PETA. The others probably are acceptable due to their large reader base.

These are all internet sources and from what it says in my assignment, I can only use 3 "website" sources. If you can please include 7 other sources that are not a "website" source that would be great.

Here is the EXACT word for word description of the requirements for my research paper given my the professor.

<<<<
Please review the following information. Your final research paper is not due until Week 8, but you should start thinking about topics now.

Your research paper will be about 2500 words, approximately 10 pages. You may choose your own topic, and please ask your teacher for guidance as far as what topics may be appropriate for this paper. Some choices work better than others. The APA (American Psychological Association) is the style required for the cover page, citations, paraphrasing and your references page.

You will begin writing the research paper in Week 4 (when you will write the outline); however, you should push yourself to conduct research in your chosen area from the beginning of the course.

Choosing Your Topic

Select a topic of your choice for this paper. You can write about the same topic or you can write about a variety of topics in each of the short papers assigned in Week 2 and Week 3. If you choose to write about the same topic area for all three papers, you may incorporate those papers into your final research paper. However, it is challenging and interesting to write on a variety of topics. One idea is to save the topic you are most interested in learning about for your final paper.

The Research Paper Deadlines

The first three pages of your paper will be due to your teacher at the end of Week 6. Your completed rough draft will be due at the beginning of Week 7 for peer review in class. This is a graded activity. Complete the final draft of the research paper and post it in the Dropbox by 11:59 p.m. (MT) on Thursday, Week 8 (250 points).

Research

More Research Paper Information:

You need to use at least ten sources; they must be academic, with a maximum of three Web sites and at least seven other references (the DeVry library online does not count as a Web site). We will discuss the credibility of sources. Please ask your teacher if you are not sure if a source is academic and verifiable or not.
It is strongly suggested that you use the DeVry library for the bulk of your research. You can access the online library by clicking on the Student Resources tab under Course Home.
Make sure you understand in-text citations.

After each quote, write the author's name and the year of publication, such as (Hughes, 2004, p. 38) as this is part of the documentation process.
We do not footnote for APA. We do not use URLs in-text.
Remember that if you use Internet sources, in your References list, you will need a lot more information than just the web-site address (URL). Also, do not use URLs when citing in text. You must use author, date, and page number. For Internet sources, it is author only, or title only (if there is no author).
Example of Internet source in-text with author: "I like cats" (Smith, 2004, p. 38).

Example of Internet source in-text without author: "I like cats" (Cats are the best). If you are using a book or article, you would include the date of publication and the page number. Example: "I like cats" (Smith, 2004, p. 34). If there is no author, then use title, date of publication, and page number.

The list of references in your text is titled References (no quotation marks, no bold, no italics) and is centered on the top of its own page at the end of the paper.

Best Practices

Helpful Research Paper Info:

APA Guidelines for Citing Sources

The APA Publication Manual, 6th Edition, is available at any bookstore or library. Since APA is used in ALL DeVry courses, you should be familiar with this style. Check DocSharing for documents that will help you better understand APA style. Also, you can examine the APA section of Chapter 12 to see examples of APA style citations. Finally, you can find tutorials and information regarding the use of APA in the Writing Resources section linked from the Student Resources page.

Research Paper Specifics:

2500 words (approximately 10 pages) and a references page.
12 pt. Arial, Courier New or Times New Roman font.
Double spaced.
Should contain an APA-style formatted title page.
All pages should be numbered.
Should contain 10 sources (minimum) with no more than three web sites. >>>>>

I have included my own outline of the paper (a very rough outline that includes what I want my cover page to look like), a few references I've already cited with annotations, and several examples *given by the professor* of what he wants the research paper to be like. I have also attached the grading rubric given by the professor for the rough draft AND the final draft. Please meet all the rubric requirements.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email me at ib3hungry@att.net.

Thanks.
