submit a brief comment about the following statement: Ethical egoism may be an unsatisfactory moral theory if it is taken on its own; however, it is an important corrective to an ethics of self-sacrifice. Briefly (150 words) relate ethical egoism, as defended by Ayn Rand, to an ethics of self-sacrifice, as presented in Carol Gilligan's second stage of moral development. For instance, think of a person whose ethical decisions are predominantly based on an ethical perspective of self-sacrifice (perhaps you may know one) and try to see if the ethical egoism approach would help this person to live a more balanced (good) life.

submit a brief comment relating the concept of stages of moral development to the moral theories studied in the earlier chapters. Briefly (150 words) relate the Kohlberg's moral development stages and the previous theories (Ethical subjectivism, Cultural Relativism, and Ethics and Religion), to the actual behavior of people discussed in earlier chapters, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Adolph Eichmann, the subjects of Milgram's experiment, and the bystanders in the Kitty Genovese case. For instance, you should be able to associate Martin Luther King Jr. with the "post-conventional stage" due to his defense of universal moral principles. Adolph Eichmann, on the other hand, can be easily associated with Kohlberg's "conventional stage" for stating at the Nuremberg Trial that he was simply following the laws of his country to justify his conduct during the World War II.
