John D. Skrentny, in The Minority Rights Revolution, argues that the movement for guaranteeing equal rights to African-Americans gave impetus to efforts by other groups seeking relief from discrimination. Successful
groups were able to argue that their positions in society were substantially similar to that of the black population. Nevertheless, their situations were not exactly the same as that of African-Americans, and those differences led to complications in devising and implementing programs for
the non-black groups. The essay must specifically compare and contrast the evolution of programs for HISPANICS and for WOMAN with the development of initiatives for African-Americans which essentaily served as a model for later minority groups seeking their own equality.
