Title: Economic philosophy Crime and punishment

Total Pages: 8 Words: 2625 References: 0 Citation Style: MLA Document Type: Research Paper

Essay Instructions: Assignment: Analyze Gary Becker’s Crime and Punishment: An economic approach using the Four Part Framework (FPF). Specifically: (1) map out Becker’s argument by indicating the parts of Becker’s argument that correspond to each of the four stages of the FPF, and (2) assess the effectiveness of Becker’s argument by discussing whether or not Becker does what is necessary to link his model to the social question he wishes to address.

Guidance: Your paper should have two parts, corresponding to the two parts of the question:
The first part should contain four sections??"one for each of the parts of the Four-Part Framework. At the beginning of each of these sections, you should explain what the particular part of the FPF you’re reviewing consists of. So, for example, at the beginning of the first section, you should first explain what the Delimiting phase is, in general, and then indicate which parts of the Becker paper correspond to the delimiting phase. You should cite specific passages in the paper to support your argument.
The second part should accomplish two things. First, you should explain generally what is necessary for a mathematical analysis of social phenomena to be successful (as we have discussed in class). Then, you should discuss the extent to which Becker does or does not do these things and make a judgment about the overall effectiveness of the paper on the basis of this.

Formatting and Citations: When you cite specific passages in the Becker paper, please be sure to put quotation marks around any passages quoted verbatim, and put the page number of the passage in parentheses after the quote.

Your paper should be formatted as follows:
• Font: Times New Roman 12 point
• Margins: 1 inch on all sides.
• Spacing: Double-spaced
There are faxes for this order.
