Essay Instructions: Compile a biographical portrait of Claude Monet. His life, art works, contribution to impressionism, etc. While doing this, also include explaining how he fits into the modernist scheme of things (since he was a figure from the modernist era which was between 1900 - 1925). I need the free bibliography page to contain at least 6 sources that are books, NOT websites. I also need my last name and page number to appear at the top right hand corner of every page (example: Grasso 1) Quotes obviously need the parenthetical citations following right after them. But also, at the end of every paragraph or two , include parenthetical citations showing where you got the information that your paraphrasing from.

The Assignment:

For this assignment you will research and write a four to five page research paper on an artist and a work of art of art in the Toledo Museum of Art. Your paper can be about the artist’s history (life) then the artwork. You are not limited to just the one artwork in the museum. You may pick one out of a book to discuss as well. Whatever images you use, you must discuss them in the paper. Your paper must use at least two books or magazine resources and one internet source; your text is not a valid source for this assignment. Sources need to be cited in-text in MLA style and fully referenced in a separate Works Cited page at the end.

Remember that a research paper has a thesis. Another way to think of this is that it answers a question.
