Instructions for Childhood Experience College Essay Examples

Essay Instructions: The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study is one of the largest investigations ever conducted to assess associations between childhood maltreatment and later-life health and well-being. The study is a collaboration between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Kaiser Permanente's Health Appraisal Clinic in San Diego.
More than 17,000 Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) members undergoing a comprehensive physical examination chose to provide detailed information about their childhood experience of abuse, neglect, and family dysfunction.
To date, more than 50 scientific articles have been published and more than100 conference and workshop presentations have been made. The ACE Study findings suggest that certain experiences are major risk factors for the leading causes of illness and death as well as poor quality of life in the United States.
Progress in preventing and recovering from the nation's worst health and social problems is likely to benefit from understanding that many of these problems arise as a consequence of adverse childhood experiences.
The ACE pyramid has five layers. The bottom layer represents ?adverse childhood experiences?. Next is ?social, emotional, and cognitive impairment?. Third is ?adoption of health-risk behaviors?. Fourth is ?disease, disability, and social problems,? and the top layer represents ?early death?. Spaces between layers represent scientific gaps about relationships between layers. A vertical arrow on the left of the pyramid represents the health impact of adverse childhood experiences from conception to death.
Have you or someone you know been emotionally, phsyically or sexually abused-how has it affected your life?

Title: An Unforgettable Childhood Experience

Total Pages: 3 Words: 1167 Sources: 2 Citation Style: MLA Document Type: Research Paper

Essay Instructions: An Unforgettable Childhood Experience is the title of the essay.
This will be a narrative essay. You will probably be telling a story about something that happened to you or to people you know.

Your story must have a thesis, usually at the very first of the essay where you tell me what you are going to relate to me (your audience). Be careful that you to not lecture or moralize – this is a story, not a sermon. End with a conclusion; the body paragraphs will be all part of your story. Your essay should be about 800 words.

Even though you will draw from personal experience, you should feel free to decorate or invent whenever convenient.

Essay Instructions: Music connects us to time and place. For instance, many of us may remember a song that comforted us during a difficult time or what was playing during a happy occasion like a graduation or engagement. Despite our varying tastes, the one constant is that music plays a role in times of comfort and celebration.
This week?s project asks you to consider what songs are important to you and why. You can think of this as defining the soundtrack of your own life. In 750-1000 words, consider and explain the role of music in your life story:
1. What music do you associate with childhood? How did/does this music make you feel? How do your choices reflect your childhood experiences?
2. What music do you associate with adolescence? Was this music a way to fit in or rebel?
3. What music do you associate with comfort? How do these songs help you deal with disappointment or stress?
4. What music do you associate with happiness? Why?
Your essay should be double-spaced and include a title page in APA format. The title page does not count in the word count for the project.
