Essay Instructions: This is a historiographical research paper that should target the early identifying and experimentation with the different gaseous elements within 17th and 18th century European chemistry. It should introduce the principal chemists of the period and trace their investment as well of payoff, or lack of payoff, in terms of popularity AND credibility. I'd also like it to explore, in particular, chemical affinity that gave rise to atomic modeling of elements, such as Dalton's chemical notation and how his and various others' evolved into the periodic table of elements today.
