Building on Assignments 1 and 2, continue to develop a strategic plan for the same organization (Note: Refer to the environmental analysis that you completed as part of Assignment 1 and the strategies identified in Assignment 2.)


Write an 7 page paper in which you will answer the following:

1.Select one (1) specific analytical tool that you can use to determine whether or not the adaptive strategy or strategies selected for your organization will be the most effective in helping the organization achieve its goals. Propose the manner in which you would use this analytical tool, and support your proposal with an example of its proposed use.

2.Determine one (1) internal and one (1) external factor that you discovered during the environmental analysis that could be a barrier to the success of your proposed strategy or strategies. Recommend one (1) solution to each of the barriers in question.

3.Determine the specific segment of the market that your organization?s strategy or strategies will target.

4.Recommend whether pre-service, point-of-service, or after-service activities would be the most effective in approach in marketing your strategy or strategies to the organization?s target customers. Support your recommendation with examples of such effectiveness.

5.Propose the most effective manner in which the organization can support its strategic direction within its culture and structure.

6.Determine the most effective manner in which each of the following strategic resources can be instrumental in helping the organization to achieve its strategic goals: finance, human resources, facilities, and IT. Provide a specific example relevant to each resource to support your response.

7.Evaluate how well the strategic plan you have developed aligns with the organization?s mission and vision. Recommend three (3) specific strategies to track the effectiveness of your strategic plan.

Essay Instructions: Capstone Research Project

This summative assignment represents the Capstone Project of the entire Homeland Security and Emergency Management degree program. For this assignment, conduct research on a Homeland Security and Emergency Management topic utilizing the steps of the scientific method. This assignment will have incremental assignments to submit during Week One and Week Two of this course in order to ensure that you are progressing in proper research methodology and scope. The research question and hypothesis approval is due in Week One and a literature review will be due in Week Two. These assignments support the project, but they are graded separately and retain their own values separate from the Capstone research Project.

Conduct an original research project in one of the following topic areas. For reference purposes and review, these key homeland security areas and sub-disciplines can be reviewed at the U. S. Department of Homeland Security website.

Topic: Preparedness, response and recovery activities and programs in disaster response or disaster recovery (See Department of Homeland Security ## Preparedness, Response & Recovery)

Once a topic area has been selected, formulate a research question and supporting hypotheses for approval by the instructor at the conclusion of Week One.

Use your approved research questions and hypotheses to develop research variables and a literature review for submission during Week Two.
During Week Three, Four and Five, conduct research and write a research paper that is between eight pages in length (excluding the title and reference page) and includes the following basic structure.

Identify a key issue and explain the supporting research question in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. (1 page)
State one research hypothesis that may answer the research question. You may use one that you formulated for Week One assignment, ?Research Project Prep.? (1 page)
Establish research variables for analysis and subsequent confirmation or refute of the research hypothesis. (roughly 1-2 pages)
Present results of research informing the proposed research variables. This research must be supported by at least eight legitimate academic resources, five of which can be found in the Ashford Online Library. The course textbook will not be considered for the resource requirement. (2 to 3 pages)
Analyze the research question and supporting hypothesis. (1-2 pages)
Construct a conclusion of research (results and answer of the research). (1-2 pages)
Include a reference page, which does not count towards the summative assignment?s page total. The reference page should be as long as needed to accurately account for all utilized research materials. Each item of the reference page should be in APA format and include where the reference was located (i.e., Ashford Online Library, Internet, etc.).
The Capstone Research Project must be at least eight pages in length. You must use at least eight scholarly resources, other than the course textbook, to support your thesis. At least five of these resources must come from the Ashford Online Library. All sources must be properly cited in text as well as on the reference page. The Capstone Research Project must be formatted according to APA style. The Capstone Research Project:

Selecting literature to support your Capstone Project is like selecting materials to build a house. The house you build is more likely to remain standing over time if the wood, nails, and screws you use are high quality and appropriate for your specific project. Similarly, the literature that you select to inform your Capstone Project must have a direct bearing on your topic; be from high-quality, reputable sources; and must address the Program Learning Outcomes. Your Capstone Project relies heavily on the literature that you select this week and next, so take the time to locate the best resources?the best building materials?to support the structure and results of your Capstone Project.

To prepare for this Capstone Project milestone:

?Review Section 3, ?Citations and References? in the course text, Essential Guide to APA Style for Walden Students. This section helps you properly cite your resources as you develop your Literature Review.
?Review the example Literature Reviews in your Learning Resources, for guidance on what a quality bibliography looks like.
?Review the online articles listed in the Learning Resources, and pay special attention to the articles in the Walden Writing Center for tips and extended explanations on how to organize and conduct a Literature Review.
?Investigate literature from a variety of sources, such as the Walden Library, books, professional magazines, and newspapers for insights that describe and support your Capstone Project topic.
To complete this milestone:

PURPOSE
Creation of a draft ?Design for Change? proposal inclusive of your PICOT and Literature review information from your Course Project Milestone #1. Your plan is to convince your management team of a nursing problem you have uncovered and you feel is significant enough to change the way something is currently practiced. In the event you are not currently working as a nurse, please use a hypothetical clinical situation you experienced in nursing school, or nursing education issue you identified in your nursing program.

DIRECTIONS
1. Create a Draft proposal for your Design for Change Capstone Project. You will include the information from Milestone #1, your PICO question and literature review, as you compose this draft. Your plan is to convince your management team of a nursing problem you have uncovered and you feel is significant enough to change the way something is currently practiced.
2. The format for this proposal will be a paper following APA 6th edition.
3. The paper is to be 3-4 pages excluding Title page and Reference page.
4. As you organize your information and evidence, include the following topics:

b. Change Plan overview using the six steps of the Rosswurm and Larrabee Model (1999).

Scholarly sources are expected, which means using peer-reviewed journals and credible websites.
6. Tables and Figures may be added as appropriate to the project should be embedded within the body of the paper (see your APA manual for how to format and cite). Creating tables and figures offers visual aids to the reader and enhances understanding of your literature review and design for change.
