Title: Buddha A description or summarization of an historical issue or question concerning Buddha

Total Pages: 3 Words: 1010 Sources: 5 Citation Style: MLA Document Type: Essay

Essay Instructions: The second writing assignment is the Historical Essay. This may be equated to a mini-research paper. The objective of the assignment is to give students practice Accessing and Using two more advanced types of source materials, Primary Sources and Academic Journals. Note: Encyclopedias May NOT BE USED !

While reading the biography you have selected for review, be sensitive to issues or questions ( of historical significance ) about this person. Choose ONE issue or question as the topic for the Historical Essay. Then using Primary Sources and Academic Journals try to answer the question or resolve the issue. It will not be possible to completely resolve the issue in such a short paper. What you need to do (at least) is describe or summarize what the Primary Sources and Academic Journals say about the question or issue, and conclude by saying what you think based on your research. Remember: the reason for the assignment is to give you practice finding and using these source materials.

Primary Sources are documents or artifacts that were produced during the time of the events under investigation by people associated with these events.

Academic Journals are periodicals published by Organizations of Professionals in the field of study ( History, Archaeology, Psychology, Medicine, etc.) What makes these Academic or Scholarly is that articles are previewed, reviewed, or adjudicated to see if the research and conclusions are consistent with the standards established by the Discipline before the articles are published.
Numerious
Academic Journal Articles exist about most people. The problem is
finding them, particularly ones that deal with a specific issue or
question. Use several of each type (primary sources and academic journal.) Remember the conditions
of
the assignment. Pick a particular issue or question about Buddha.
Then look at what the Primary Sources and Academic Journals have to say
about that issue or question. You do not have to resolve the issue.
You only need to describe what the sources say.

Total Pages: 5 Words: 1254 Bibliography: 8 Citation Style: MLA Document Type: Research Paper

Essay Instructions: This will be a visual analysis and a research paper about
Shakyamuni Buddha as a main image which is at Rubin Museum of Art(item no. 88650)1000 - 1099Tibet
14.29cm (5.63in) high
Copper, Copper Inlay, Silver Inlay
Collection of Asia Society
and For my second image it is The Eight Great Events of the Buddha’s Life
Tibet; ca. 13th century
Pigments on cloth; 413?4 x 303?4 in. (106 x 78cm)
Private Collection, Switzerland
Please make a thesis related to these to images and state it clearly. My main image is Shakyamuni Buddha which must be discussed deeply. at least 4 pages must be about that. Relate my second image(The Eight Great Events of the Buddha’s Life) to Shakyamuni Buddha. Also you can write about his life story because he was also an object for meditation...both teaching tools.
You can use the Indian chapter of Stoksad book which has a chart of mudras (symbolic
hand gestures) and in the Japanese chapter is a page showing the main characteristics identifying Buddha.
my two images are showing him as a model (he is meditating, the prime tool to use for enlightenment).

Please make sure that this paper has a bibliography and footnotes. The paper must include a visual analysis of the work under discussion (include impact on form of materials used), research on relevant cultural and historical information and a discussion of the style. You can expand the discussion of the second image but the first image must be discussed in depth.
Write Subjective and interpretive statements about meaning and their impact of the work , but this should be a very small part of the paper and they should be clearly expressed as my opinion.

Correct form of the footnotes and the bibliography, which must be based on the Chicago Style in Diana Hacker’s The Bedford Handbook, 7th ed, Bedford/St. Martins, or Kate Turabian’s Manual for writers of term papers, theses and dissertations.

Please do not copy anything from a website without changing it.
Also in the bibliography part add the website links. Do not use wikipedia as a source.
Answer What is the form about and why is it the way it is? How do the beliefs of the culture/religion inform the design? What is the context? Be sure to discuss the materials and craft techniques if important.
