Briar Rose by Jane Yolen and The Accident by Elie Wiesel
Introduction with attention-getter
Thesis statement
Compare at least 3 categories
Either Block or Point-by-point method of comparison
2-3 outside sources cited
one quote from each book in body of paper

Essay Instructions: based on a thesis of your own, analyze the contrast between the implication of feminism from Anne Sexton's poem "Briar Rose" and the implication of anti-feminism from Alfred Hitchcock's film "Psycho"(1960). Analysis must be based on
in-depth interpretations on some particular scenes from the movie or some specific passages from the poem. There should not be any plot summary from both texts or any history telling unless it's necessary to lay out your analysis, in such cases, keep it as brife and concise as you can.

PS: my TA is very particular about "in-depth interpretation from details of texts", he doesn't wanna see any general talks that are not coming from the texts. And also, he's strict about the structure of the paper, he wants topic sentence at the beginning of each paragraph. And he wants the structure to be either all TEXT1 then all TEXT2. Or contrasting TEXT 1 and TEXT2 under topic 1, then contrasting TEXT1 and TEXT2 under topic 2 etc. I haven't developed a strong thesis yet, so any thesis that you think will work is fine.
