Instructions for Blues College Essay Examples

Essay Instructions: Literary Analysis Essay
Choose a poem to deconstruct from Terrance Haye?s. Analyze its meter, theory, type, rhyme scheme, form, or use of metaphor and irony. Then, for comparative purposes, find another American poem that complements or contrasts Hayes?. Perhaps they share subject matter or form or were influenced by the same writers or pop culture (or maybe Hayes influenced the other poet or vice versa). They should share some common bond in order for you to draw out a thesis in the first place. Identify that bond and, immediately afterward, highlight their structural or topical differences. Make clear which poem is more effective in reaching its audience or continuing the tradition of their common influence or varying the structure of a particular poetic form. You are welcome to use secondary sources ? references and criticism within your essay. Make sure to cite books, articles, and websites properly in MLA style. I chose ?The Blue Terrance? by Terrance Hayes and ?The Weary Blues? by Langston Hughes for comparison (attached). Thanks so much for your help ?
