REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PAPER THIS PAPER IS IN MLA FORMAT

Essay Instructions: The question I need to answer for this 4 page paper is: Why is the annual hunting expedition that serves as the background for the story so important to its participants? What does that ever ongoing bear hunt mean?

This course is called Politics & Literature and it's a comparative politics course so please answer the question with that theme in mind.

Please only cite from the book itself and just use quotes with footnotes. List the footnotes on the works cited page and not at the bottom of the page you're writing on. Please use the same version I am if possible which is Vintage International's version of Go Down Moses from November of 1990 so I can make sure it lines up. If you can't do that please just make sure to also mention what chapter your citing from so I can go back and line it up.

The Professor likes quotes. He wants us to write these papers with a lot of analysis. He wants us to pose a question up front, answer the question, argue the question and refute the argument, and close strong with our original answer. I hope that makes sense to you. He wants us basically in the opening paragraph to set up my answering that question as an argument, i.e. "The annual hunting expedition in the bear is of great importance to its participants. I will argue it's because of this that and the other thing. I will also examine the meaning of the ongoing bear hunt." Obviously you won't write exactly that but something along those lines. Also, I hope that this section is giving you a sense of my voice and how I write. I have written other papers for him so he knows how I write. I will of course go in and try to rewrite whatever you give me in my voice but the closer you get to me the first time the better.
