  • Document Type: Research Paper
Essay Instructions: I want a total of 10 pages which includes a cited works page and bibliography of the author?s works. I have 10 pages above that

Select one noteworthy author of children?s books and/or young adult literature who has contributed a minimum of five books to the field (see list below). Aim to become knowledgeable about his/her books, writing processes, and life in general in order to introduce us to, and fascinate us by, this writer?s life and work. Since this project is in lieu of a final exam, consider it your ongoing and culminating work for the semester; work that demands much of the semester to read, write, and prepare in two formats: written and visual.

Read ? Without delay visit libraries and bookstores, go online, talk to friends, librarians, teachers, kids, and bookstore employees as well as consult references/resources to secure as much information as possible about your selected author. Read at least five chapter- centered books written by him/her (include picture books too if your selected author also writes in this format). Seek information about the author and his/her works such as memoirs, essays, written speeches, interviews, contributions to books and journals, and reviews of his/her work.

Write/Visualize ? The written component of this project serves as a ?Meet the Author? piece and is in line with responding to literature in a creative way. Select a nontraditional format (interview, scrapbook, diary entries, letters, newspaper, magazine, ABC book) to introduce and illumine your author, his/her life, writing processes, and work (including responses to his/her work, your own and that of reviewers) through both writing and visuals. Visuals can include one specific media (such as oil pastels ) or they can be multi-media (perhaps including photographs). Conclude the piece with a list of resources (minimum of five) and a bibliography of your author?s works. The completed project should be ten pages mimimum
