It included four major points: 1. The Rurh was to be evacuated by Allied troops; 2. Reparation payments would begin at $1 billion marks the first year, increasing to $2.5 billion annually after five years; 3. The Reichsbank would be reorganized under Allied supervision; and 4. The sources for the reparation money would include transportation, customs and excise taxes. Futher, the Dawes Plan did rely on foreign aid from the United States. The plan was accepted by all by September 1924. However, despite short-term benefits to the German economy, it also made Germany dependent on foreign markets and economies. Dawes was the recipient of the 1925 Novel Peace Prize, but by 1929 the plan was in shambles and had to once again be reorganized.

Romanticism - What was it that the Romantic poets, authors and composers tried to bring to the world? The Romantic Movement, coming to its height as a literary genre in the mid 1800s, gained strength in its reactions to classical thought, the Industrial Revolution, and the human condition, many living in sloth.
The theme can be summarized best in the works of Jean Jacques Rousseau. In politics (e.g. culture) Rousseau's view of the social contract and natural rights was central to the way he viewed the progress of mankind. Natural rights are universal, not limited to one time period or country, and arguable / contingent upon the interpretation of those who exercise the greatest power in that particular society -- even though this is against the basis of natural rights itself. Romanticism began as a reaction -- not so much against anything concrete, more as a result of social moods of the time-period. In music it was a way to expand Classical "rules," harmonies, and forms of expression; in literature and poetry a broad range of reactions towards pieces that were too formal.
