Expectations

The resume narrative in this paper was far more flavored with descriptive words and phrases than the Website copy. The sentences in the resume copy were intentionally packed with positive images and carefully crafted to show the HR people that will read it that I really was pushing hard to make an impression. In fact the resume copy was borderline too self-promotional, but on the other hand just turning in a bland letter of introduction usually achieves absolutely nothing. Typically HR people go through a stack of resumes and letters of introduction every day, and most of those letters are either poorly written or they just don't convey the emotion of the applicant very well. The resume letter in this instance is taking a bold stance, using sentences that specifically point to actual accomplishments and positives with reference to past work experience; hence, the sentences contain emotion and power.
As to the Green World Website paragraph, it was also designed to persuade, but not through sentences heavily laden with glossy promotional tones. The Green World copy was deliberately low key, using factual non-emotional sentences so as not to give the consumer the idea that this company is desperate to outdo others, or is willing to hype products that pretty much sell themselves. In writing the Green World copy I made an attempt to include as many products that are used often by consumers (phones, batteries, cookware, televisions), and the use of low-key narrative was intentionally embraced because consumers are being hit over the head with hype, great deals, and there seems a constant nattering on TV and radio extolling the wonders of living….....
