The author's lack of experience when concerning the writing of historical documents can be considered to be a minor drawback in the writing of the book. The fact that the author directly took part in the fighting might have influenced him in writing the book, as some people might believe that the book is not impartial.When reading that the battle is one of the most important battles of the Second World War, some readers might be falsely led to believe that it had been one of the greatest battles in the whole war, and not just between the Americans and the Japanese.

In the Second World War context, the battle certainly qualifies as being an important one, with the Americans having succeeded in capturing an important Japanese position. The Axis forces definitely reached a dead-end in 1945, with the Allies getting closer and closer to ending the war.
