Big Petroleum Company is merging its eastern and western offices, and 72 employees from the company's eastern office will be moving to the west. In order to ensure that the move runs smoothly in terms of moving logistics, housing, office space requirements and integration of the eastern employees into the existing western office structure, a skilled team of workers must be compiled. In viewing the components of the five-member team needed for the success of this project, one can better understand why this project is suitable for a team and how each respective member plays a role in the project's overall success.

Five-Member Team, Duties, and Significance to the Project

The successful completion of the aforementioned project will need the respective successful completion of an innumerable series of tasks that will each prove necessary to ensure that a fully functioning integrated Big Petroleum Company office emerges in a minimal amount of time. As the permanent transportation of 72 individuals from one coast to another does not end -- but rather begins -- with the moving of each individual respectively, a team of directors must be assembled to handle the facets of moving these individuals' entire lives cross-country as well as their respective company duties and presences.
First and foremost, a logistics director must be set in place to oversee the integration of the companies. Logistics is the management of the flow of goods between the point of origin and the point of destination in order to meet the requirements of customers or corporations, which in the case of BPC office merger, takes on many challenges (Dong-Hua and Zailani, 36). Which office materials and documents need transporting? How will they get to the new office? At what cost? The logistics manager will oversee the integration and methods for integration of two offices into one with respect to physical office assets.

Further, as living out of a hotel rather than an apartment or home environment can hinder employee productivity, a human resources extension director must be appointed to oversee the relocated employees in terms of answering questions regarding the move as well as each employee's respective new place and job security within the combined office environment.
