There are no more round red, Roma and plum tomatoes on the shelves or in the menus as Publix supermarkets decided to take them off the market regardless of their provenience. We're just out there in a holding pattern. it's not very pretty in tomato land right now" (Walker & Paiva Cordle, 2008). The expected losses are of approximately $40 million.

Still if you have a craving for the sweet taste of tomatoes, you can still buy from your local store cherry tomatoes. However, you may discover that your desire is too expensive and unprofitable for your local store to cater for. Until then, you will have to do with a month without tomatoes as most stores and diners are determined to follow the strict rule of the FDA.
