The possession of guns is considered as a matter of tradition and heritage of the society. However the usage of automatic guns in violent crimes has initiated a concern for society to urge government for imposition of strict gun control laws. The previous laws should be changed to restrict automatic rifles possession and sales. The high powered weapons should also avoided by the public to evade unnecessary violence. United States is country that allowed its citizen to possess fire arms for their protection. The rights to keep guns are also protected under the federal constitution. The guns kept by citizens are also a significant part of the country's culture.

Laws & regulations not adequate enough:

Constitutional Right:

It is considered as pride and provides a sense of American heritage. The gun controls are contested on the grounds of long history of acceptance as a part of the society. The gun possession is considered as a part of rights for the general public. The traditional view of the society enables them to argue for their rights and loose gun control laws. However the awareness created by the pressure groups, NGOs, and civil society by highlighting the drawbacks of possessing guns is gradually shifting public opinion. It is also notable that increasing crime rate due to legal or illegal gun position is also a factor promoting strict gun control laws and regulations.

The legal consequences for New York gun control laws are criticized by the arm dealers and communities. It required registration of all sales made by the arms dealers. The state is also required to enforce a law for gun deals. The guns can only be sold to authorized persons. The authorized persons are regarded as individuals with a permit for gun possessions. These controls are evaluated for falling under unconstitutional laws. On the other hand these controls are regarded as insufficient to control gun violence. The advocates of strict and renewed gun control laws demand strict regulations. These gun controls however are not adequate to bring results (Squire, 2002).

Registration & Licensing

The background checks for the licensees are an important factor is allowing the government and authorities to assess the personal attributes related to the person the license is applied. The background checks are also significant in determining any previous history of involvement in any criminal activities as well as convictions. The background checks enable the licensing authority to issue licenses vigilantly. The background of individuals requiring licenses is verified through a systematic approach. The background check also enables the efforts for reducing the possession of illegal guns as well as the legal possession of guns by criminals.

Federal Registration:

The laws and regulations for gun control are different in terms of the applicability and procedure followed to register the licensed arms. The states have adopted their own laws. The degree of variance for laws and regulations is also due to inadequate federal laws applicable for all states. The varied laws also create a significant difference for carrying guns. A number of states require its inhabitants to carry guns with only licenses while other requires the concealed possession of guns under after the acquisition of permits. The supporters of gun control emphasize on the importance of federal registration and regulations equally implemented throughout the country to create a unified approach.

Lobbying:

According to Langbein (1993) the American gun control movement exists in Washington, D.C., as a result the strict gun control laws are in place. The strict gun control laws are Brady campaign to prevent gun violence, the coalition to stop gun violence, and violence policy center. New Jersey, Hawaii, and Maryland are the states which implemented strict gun control laws. The possession of long barrel guns is also an important indicator as it is prohibited in these states. The significance of strong presence of gun control lobbies in Washington, D.C., has also effects at national levels. The strong presence of gun rights lobbies in states resist in legislation required to position strict gun possession and gun violence laws (Carter, 2012).
The differences in political positions at the capital and states are also one of the major concerns in enforcement of these laws. The congress has passed law posturing ban on approximately 200 different types of firearms. While it is also noticeable that only four states were able to implement the ban.

National Rifle Association (NRA):

The National Rifle Association is considered one of the country's old and well membered societies. The members of NRA are well connected through memberships and they are also in possession of number of arms. The rifles association is also considered politically a string force indulged in activities to promote guns and propagate reduced controls for guns. The tactics used by NRA revolves around creating fear among public, intimidating the national culture's association with guns, and multiple means to lobby for laws effective gun controls. The political and social influence used by NRA derails the strict gun controls and it is also significant to note that the political influence of the organization is observed throughout the national sphere. The large number of members uses their political and tactical influence to promote sales of fire arms and long barrel guns.

Politicians:

The political influence exerted on the elected members of congress in their respective states encourages the advocates and pressure groups of strict gun control laws to focus and lobby with the bureaucracy in Washington. They also tend to intimidate bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms, and explosives to exercise their power in implementing strict laws and regulation to prohibit manufacturing and import of handguns and numerous long guns (Carter,

The common grounds can be accessible as a concluding aspiration to reduce gun violence. The requirements of new law can only be investigated in case the current gun control laws are fully implemented and dealt according to the legal obligations. Additionally both sides agree for strict measures to be taken in order to ensure that illegal possession, sale, transfer, and use of guns are reduced through current legal regulations.

The unlawful import of firearms is also a leading factor. The illegal shipping and receiving of guns without legal permission also falls ends as weapon related arrest. The manufacturing of illegal guns is also a notable crime. The detention under current gun control laws is observed at approximately 67,000 and 200,000 weapons arrests. The federal and local police contribute in arresting the offenders and later the statistics are issued to assess the crime rate as well as the performance.

Poverty:

Poverty is also one of the factor influencing crimes in the societies. It is observed that personal economic conditions have an influence on the crime rates. The poverty along with the psychological factors also influences the use of firearms in crimes. The obtainability of firearms for unlawful activities is also a major factor. The extensive usage of firearms in circumstances where crime is intended should be considered as a potential argument to implement strict laws for gun control in U.S. (Bright, 2010). The criminal persons are more likely to use guns in abnormal conditions including low income and poverty.
