Tell me something about yourself.

The secret here is to be informed as the full nature of the position that you are applying for and to have done your homework as to the background and history of the company. A well prepared answer would be similar to the following: I am an efficient and highly organized individual who aims to be as productive as possible. I make every effort to use my time effectively and hate to waste my time. In this regard, I am careful to keep accurate time of my activities and schedule.

Why do you want this job?

The best way of approaching this type of question is to highlight what you feel you can contribute to the job. The interviewer is going to expect to receive an answer relative to what the job can do for the applicant and will be impressed by the fact that the applicant is focusing on the business and not himself. In this regard a good answer would be: I am anxious to see how I can help this company reach its goals. I have extensive experience and education in the areas that you are seeking to hire someone and feel that I can help the company develop its contacts so that growth will come more easily.
What do you consider your main weaknesses?

The key to answering this question is to attempt to turn a negative into a positive and avoid, at all costs, of mentioning any reference to the term weakness or any term similar in connotation. Throughout the entire interview the key is to focus on the positive. A good strong answer to this question may be as follows: I tend toward perfection and this trait often causes me to spend more time on a particular task than I probably should. I have never missed a deadline but my desire to be perfect causes me to work hard to make sure that the project is completed as well as possible.

Think of a time when you had a conflict with another person, how did you handle the situation? What was the outcome?

Answering this question too quickly would be a major mistake. It is important to choose your words carefully. Answering too quickly may indicate to the interviewer that the matter has occupied your mind and you want to create the impression that you handled the matter discretely and professionally and are comfortable with your response. A possible response may be: I had worked with Scott for a number of months with little difficulty but….....
