The Duchess are yet to conquer the horror to realize spiritual victory. My first encounters with the book Duchess of Malfi was through the course CL/EN2051: English Literature Before 1800. The Duchess of Malfi takes place during the 16th Century at the Duchess' palace in Italy. Ferdinand and the Cardinal are visiting the Duchess (a young widow) at the start of the play. Apparently, they explain to their sister (the Duchess) the importance of remaining chest and not remarrying.At the end of the play, it is clear that only the oldest son is a survivor of a brawl pitting the Duchess, her siblings, and Bosola that led to death of all involved in the brawl.

Conclusion

I have gained many ideas, morals, concepts, and lessons upon studying the five texts of medieval works and Comparative literature. I have special interest in Roma and Greek mythology particularly those written by Ovidius Naso. Naso introduced several stories such as Hercules, the Fall of Troy, the daughters of Orion, the story of Daphne and Apollo, and Narcissi and Eco. The elements such as fantasy, imagination, spirituality, and idea of re-birth represented by Diotima's speech are exceptional. Elizabethan literature especially Shakespeare's sonnets are of outstanding and incomparable interest to me. I also feel the urge to study Medusa -- a fictional villain in the Greek mythology.
