The Sam Noble Museum was founded in 1899 based on a mandate from the Territorial Legislature to educate people about the natural and human history of Oklahoma. Over the years, the museum has collected over 5 million pieces of history that has helped people learn about the area as a whole. Their mission is to constantly conduct investigations and studies to increase their knowledge about the area and those who were there before them. As the museums director states their goal is to, "develop exhibitions and conduct educational programs that illustrate, interpret, and explain the natural history of the state and region to bring a greater understanding of our world to the people of Oklahoma and others.

Overall, the Canadian and American museums were very similar based on the reasons for why they were founded and their overall missions. All of the missions of these museums are based on the importance of understanding history and culture of a certain area, and also keeping an open mind about a variety of different issues from both the past and present. All of the museums have operated over the years based on the caring and generosity of certain individuals who dedicate their time to allowing the educational process to take place. In some cases, such as at the High Museum, the growth of the museum even helped to revitalize the entire arts and cultural sector of downtown Atlanta. Although the years have changed the look of the museums, their messages remain the same as they stress the importance of learning, education, understanding and overall knowledge of human and natural history.
