I learned on [insert date] that I was denied transfer admission to UC campus for Fall, 2012. I respectfully request the Transfer Appeals Committee to reevaluate my application on the basis of the new information provided in this letter.
Although I was never surprised when I received the rejection letter from UCR, I was extremely disappointed. I am quite aware that when I applied my GPA was below average for UCR. I also know that at the time of the examinations (due to my background as an international student from Japan); my scores did not represent my true ability since English is not the lingua franca in my home country.I must say that I went thorough an extraordinary hardship during my first college year as an English as a Second language (ESL) student. As is indicated in the attached transcript, I had a 2.88 GPA in the Winter 2012 exams. I must say that my grades from Fall 2010 to the Summer 2011 were terrible due to the fact that by then, I had not grasped the use of English as the language of instruction. Basically, my GPA was dragged down by my poor scores in POL-1 and MAT-5.The main reason again is that my English was not good at that time. I must say that language barrier has been the main cause of poor academic performance in the American college where I have been in the past.
