The word means "breath, spirit or wind." So pneumothorax means a collection of air in the thorax (pleural cavity) that leads to partial or complete lung collapse.

3. Gastro is the Greek word for "stomach," and "Entero" means "intestines." Anything ending with ology means it is being studied. So gastroenterology is the study of the stomach and intestines.

4. Cardiac is the Greek word for "heart," and we use the two words interchangeably. "Arrest" means stop in Greek, so arrested behavior means the behavior has been stopped. In this case, the "cardiac" or heart has been "arrested" or stopped.

5. Intraosseous Infusion is made up of two words. Intraosseous is made up of intra-which means "within," os which means "bone" in Greek and eous, which means "the nature of." Infusion is a shot, as liquids are infused into something; in this case it means "an emergency infusion of fluids, blood, or medications, when intravenous access is not available, into the tibia [bone] in young children" (Taber, p. 1014).
6. Non-Oncological, has three sections dealing with this word, the Prefix (non) which means "it is not," Onco, which has to do with tumors and means "bulk" in Greek, and logical, which means "word" or "study of" in Greek; so the word means it is not the study of tumors or that the bulky mass that is looked at on the person is not a tumor.
