Eternal life means that we understand the love that "surpasses knowledge," a transcendent gift (Ephasians 3:19). Even those who suffer and live in sin can be saved and given eternal life, for Jesus has infinite mercy: "But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ," (Ephesians 2:13).You need not worry about your former life, for that no longer matters. Eternal life wipes away sin, because that is exactly why God sent his only Son. Jesus died for us so that we may be absolved from the sin that taints our mundane life, and so that we may receive eternal life in Him.
