Dunkin Donuts Internship

When most people think of Dunkin Donuts, they will often associate it with the many franchises and the quality of the products they provide. This has helped the firm to become very popular and to reach out to new segments of customers in an ever changing marketplace. One of the reasons why they have been so successful is from their ability to understand the needs of cliental. (Boone, 2010) ("Why Dunkin Brands," 2014)

To help the firm attract the best talent and identify who can help them to remain competitive, the company is offering various internships. They are focused on teaching candidates different positions and what it takes to be successful at Dunkin Donuts. This enables the company to have a competitive edge by locating those individuals who can work with the organization over the long-term. (Boone, 2010) ("Why Dunkin Brands," 2014)

To fully understand how this assists the company in reaching its long-term objectives requires carefully analyzing the internship program. This will be accomplished by studying one that was recently completed at a franchise in Massachusetts. During this process there will be a focus on the work performed / the experiences and a summary of the various roles. Together, these elements will highlight how the program benefits the firm and the way it allows individuals to determine if this is someplace they want to start their careers. Summary of the work performed within the indicated time period and your experience with the different types of leadership styles, traits and powers that were experienced

Dunkin Donuts was started in 1950 by Bill Rosenberg in Massachusetts. In the past, the firm kept expansion in certain areas that would increase their market share through various franchises. These are independently owned businesses, which carry the Dunkin Donuts name and sell their products to customers. (Boone, 2010) ("Why Dunkin Brands," 2014)

Recently, the firm has been focused on expanding their brand name and the total number of franchises. Their current objectives are to tipple the number of locations from 5,400 by 2020. This is a part of an effort to improve the brand name and quality of the products they are selling to cliental. (Boone, 2010)

In order to reach these larger objectives, the internship program is designed to locate individuals who can meet a specific mindset and attitude. It is focused on teaching different leadership styles, traits and powers. This is accomplished by having these individuals working in different positions and learning about the importance of each one in helping the organization to accomplish its larger objectives (at a specific location). The various kinds of leadership styles are teaching candidates how to motivate others and the proper techniques for running a franchise. The lessons that are learned during the process are helping everyone to understand the best techniques for working with people. This is achieved by using transformational leadership. Under these techniques, interns learn how everybody plays an important part in making the organization successful. This is accomplished by listening to what staff members have to say, treating them with respects and allowing them to see their importance to the operation of the franchise. When this happens, everyone will feel as if they are being treated with respect and can see the way they are contributing to the long-term success of the firm. Moreover, managers will work with the crew to understand how there is a future for them at the company. This is achieved by using the transformational leadership style to show the endless possibilities for advancement. It is based upon, how well they meet critical objectives and by encouraging them to work with others in this kind of environment. Over the course of time, this enables everyone to know the different jobs and how they can use this experience in the future. The basic traits are focusing on everyone understanding specific attitudes and practices which must always be embraced. This is accomplished by having the leadership set the example through understanding each position, the challenges, how to overcome them and those techniques for being successful. These variables help them to more effectively work with staff members by utilizing their experience and setting the example for them to follow.

Over the long-term, this increases professionalism and it enables the organization to deliver a quality product to customers. At the same time, everybody learns how to effectively troubleshoot problems and what steps must be taken to work with cliental. The different powers that were experienced as part of the internship include: supervising employees, watching what techniques are utilized by staff members / managers and understanding how to effectively interact with customers. These variables work together to offer everyone with better insights about the best ways to improve the image of the organization and meet the demands of customers. Supervising employees is teaching interns about what it takes to manage them and the specific procedures that must be followed. Watching the techniques of employees and managers teaches interns different aspects of running a franchise. This occurs by having them work on the crew position and understand each station. Once they have mastered these objectives, is the point they are able to learn the responsibilities of the shift manager and troubleshoot critical challenges. Next, they will work with the general manager in order to comprehend how to operate the franchise. This is enabling everyone to understand different aspects of the job. The worked that was performed involved concentrating on a number of areas in conjunction with each other. These include: working on the crew, as a shift manager and as the general manager. The basic idea is to have interns learn the different aspects of business by understanding what is involved with each station and its importance. This is when they will comprehend everyone's role in providing superior products / services and enhancing the customer's experience. (Boone, 2010)

According to the firm, this involves everybody working together in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Evidence of this can be seen with Dunkin Donuts saying, "Crew Members are responsible for delivering great guest experiences.
