A business cannot survive if its operations are dubious and suspect. Ethics of the company can be seen in the everyday business conduct. The ethical behavior and leadership effectiveness go hand in hand and this results in better position of the company. Big businesses that do not have ethical leaders have ultimately been exposed and the public have condemned them like Enron. The company became corrupt because the top executives and even its auditors were corrupt. The result was that some of the executives who followed the unethical practices went to jail and some face a very difficult life ahead in penury. Unethical leaders spread the corruption to the rank and file. Therefore ethical behavior has to come from the leader and the company must have ethical rules of operation that must be made inviolable. Thus any business cannot do without value and ethics and in the long run the company shown to have followed a proper ethical model will get the better public good will and also be effective. Therefore it is necessary to emphasize on ethics at all levels. (Lussier; Achua, 2003)

4) Describe some of the practices, policies, and norms that you would expect to find in an organization that prides itself on building a culture of respect and trust?

To inspire trust the company must have an open policy that creates trust in its claims and automatically earns respect.
That can come with the building of a culture around the functioning of the organization and it begins with a respect for people both inside the organization and outside it. The first sign that the organization is sound is that it respects its leaders, employees and customers and there is fairness in all the dealings of the firm. The second visible sign would be the presence of supportive leaders, and employee satisfaction and better performance in terms of their work, social obligations and voluntary participation in the affairs of the company. These employees not only are good in the organization but also are good citizens. There is respect and trust for the leader and one another and the top leaders also reciprocate the trust and interest in their employees. The greatest feature is the team work and the teams that are managed by the internal working of the team members rather than a supervisory intervention form outside. In the development of such culture a visitor or observer can notice that there is consistent behavior within the organization. Leaders are proactive and the company is bound by values. Where there is such an atmosphere and transparency trust automatically follows. (Lussier; Achua, 2003)
