Causes of Heart Attack

Heart attack and the relating diseases are some of the major killers in the United States. Heart attack cases turn out repeatedly and have killed hundreds of thousands of people each year, not to mention leaving the survivors in uncomfortable life and growing risk for its recurrence.

A regular fact that explains about how the attack happens is about the abnormal blood circulation in the vessels. Human body consists of thousands of arteries and intersection that needs to keep clean to allow the blood to run smoothly, supplying enough oxygen throughout the body. In one way or another, the minimum space of the artery does not allow normal passage since the arteries get partially blocked by plaque substances.

The article "Arterial Disease" explains that atherosclerosis, the artery disease, most commonly is caused by the accumulation of substances such as "fatty substances, cholesterol, cellular waste, calcium, and fibrin." Those kinds of materials do not simply present and clog the blood vessels at one time, but they build up as there are more fat or cholesterol materials intake gets higher. The substances occupy the space along the inner surface of the arteries, and sometimes tear up and drifted within the blood circulation, then finally accumulate somewhere in the blood vessel.

Often, the most common heart attack cases happen to people who are risking their heart as the consequences of the modern lifestyle. People get busy and value time more than before that they ask for faster and more practical way of living.
It includes consuming fast, high-fat but less nutritious food like hamburger, soda, or pizza. Many are engrossed in their workload enough to give them pressure for the whole week. Then there also seems not enough time to do the workout that accommodates the heart and blood vessels to work properly.

The American Heart Association (2002) also mentioned that as the blood supply fails to reach the heart, the heart muscle (myocardium) would suddenly stop functioning. The more blocks occur, the more chances that the heart will stop and cause heart attack. Failure to supply fresh blood for few minutes may cause the muscles to get damaged, and in a severe case, it may cause the heart to stop for good.

Other cases and diseases that commonly lead to heart attack are high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels and the clogs caused by chemical substances found in cigarettes. Both active and passive smokers bear the risk of suffering future heart problem, if the habit continues.

According to Texas Heart Institute (2002), high blood pressure has a great contribution and increases the risk factor to trigger the attack. As one problem or another occurs, the blood circulation does not work properly. As the consequence of clogged blood movement in the "very small arteries," the heart has to work hard to pump and force the stream forward and supply thoroughly to all….....
