Food Helps Boost Mood

In our extremely fast paced and on the run lives, many of us tend to neglect our diet and our food intake. It is usually the last of our worries to think about what kind of food to eat and how our diet affects our heath overall as well as our mood. It is rarely ever realized that the food an individual intakes can have a heavy impact on their moods and behavior. It is scientifically proven that every human body requires a balance of food and minerals in order to lead a perfectly balanced, healthy and fit life.

People nowadays are always on the run where they rarely ever have time to sit down and have proper food which is why the fast food business is so successful because people prefer to have something to grab on the go and have it on their way to work or the gym or to university or wherever they are headed. But this lifestyle is extremely unhealthy for a person in terms of health and in terms of life as a whole (Thayer). The reason why people are so irritated and cranky all the time is due to the lack of proper food and diet which weakens them inside and kills their tolerance towards pressure situations and slows their brains to be active and make rational decisions.

Recent scientific developments have shown that the use of proper diet can have impacts on the chemicals in the human's brains as well as the transmitters that are present in the human mind. To keep them active and functioning, it is highly essential to consume a balanced amount of all kinds of diet such as meat, eggs, rice, fish, fruits, etc. because every food has a different mineral in them and aids our bodies in various forms.

Carbohydrates contain serotonin which helps in the synthesis of our brains and keeps a check on our mood and helps regulate it. Serotonin also enables the individual to stay calm and patient in stressful situations which might cause a person to quickly lose temper or get anxious. The food types that are high in serotonin are fish as well as others which contain a lot of Vitamin D essential for our bodies. Tryptophan can also be found in fruits and sea food that are rich in proteins and iron. Food containing carbohydrates also ensures that the body weight stays balanced and reduces the need to exercise constantly (McNamara).

Researchers have recently discovered the extent to which people suffer from depression and anxiety disorders due to the immense amount of pressure that people face. It has been recently found that the intake of fish, walnuts and flaxseeds can act as a source of protection and lighten up one's mood when they are on a threat to go into a mode of depression. It can act as an element to keep a person's spirits high and active. The omega 3 acids act as neurotransmitters in the brain of a person and when a person has a lesser balance of these acids in their body, they become more prone to the prevalence of depressive moods (Berg).

Another very important aspect of mood regulation and a healthy life style is to make it a habit of having breakfast every morning. It is common to find people these days that simply pass on the idea of having breakfast because waking up early is no longer something we do anymore. Hence, to cut down on time and start the day quickly, breakfast is usually opted out of. But it is very important to realize the importance of breakfast in assisting the person to have a lively and nice mood all day.
